Troubleshooting

Fixes for common problems and how to send a report.

No video is listed

  • Press Play on the page first, then open the popup or press Scan again.
  • Browser pages such as chrome:// cannot be scanned; open the video page itself.
  • DRM-protected and YouTube videos are not supported.

The download stops with HTTP 403 or 404

  • Links may have expired: reload the video page, play it again and open a new download from the popup.
  • Some servers block access; KepVideo retries with the page's Referer, but not every site allows downloads.

“The server limits requests (HTTP 429)”

The site is asking KepVideo to slow down. The download pauses with a countdown and continues by itself; after three pauses it stops so you can try again later.

The download seems stuck on one segment

KepVideo keeps retrying a stalled segment and shows which one. Wait, or press Stop; Stop also removes the unfinished file.

“Illegal invocation” after choosing Low speed

This was a bug in versions 0.2.14–0.2.26 and is fixed in 0.2.27. Update the extension and start the download again (downloads cannot resume).

The saved file will not play

  • Make sure the download finished with Saved; a failed job can leave an incomplete file.
  • Files saved before 0.2.61 whose name contains # may not open in VLC — rename the file without #.
  • Try another player (for example VLC) and send a report with the details below.

Send a report

  1. Press Report in the popup or download page — the Report page opens in a new tab.
  2. Choose the problem, add a short description, optionally your email, and review the details.
  3. Press Send report and keep the reference code (for example KV-7F3A2C), or Save report file for a JSON copy.

More detail is in the report guide.
